There is not one person you can meet that doesn't know what Facebook is. I mean, my Nana even has Facebook (and she is 60). Most people you meet have a Facebook page. But are they dangerous? Maybe not for people over the age of 30 but, what about children?
I know a 10 year old who is on Facebook. I don't think I agree with her being able to have access to the site, let alone having her own page. Her parents do have access to her page and they can see what she goes on....to a certain extent! Children are very clued in to how to use computers! She could probably hide anything she wants from her parents using a computer.
Even a compulsory class at school is IT. We are teaching children how to hide things from us and then we complain that they know too much. Well maybe we know too little! Has anybody ever thought about that.
Computers are great for knowledge and staying in contact with relatives who live in other countries, but there are far too many sites that should be illegal and children have simple access to these sites and know how to easily hide the evidence of going on those sites.
Statistics show that at least 76% of children aged 11 and over have watched 'Porn'. That is a terrifying stat to see! I mean, I am not against porn but there is a reason that they have an age limit of 18 on the videos and websites. I think most people have watched Porn at some point in their lives but for 11 and 12 year old children to have seen it.....It shows there is something wrong with the amount of access kids have to technology!
Sorry. What a way to start off my blog! A rant about children. I love children and it wasn't that long ago I was one. I'm only 19 for Christ's sake!
Maybe my next blog entry will be a bit more cheery!
